As I began reading the perspectives, I found that they were all extremely interesting that is why I continued to read them all.
I certainly agree with the statement contained in "Into the World of Librarianship".... "allow staff time to play and learn"..... this is crucial as we need this to understand what is out there and how to use it.
I like the statement in "To better bibligoraphic service".... "collaborating on cataloguing"...for cataloguers like myself, this would save time, I'm all for it.
The statement in Wikipedia Library 2.0 does sum everything up well though...."individual pieces of Library 2.0 may not be entirely new........new Web 2.0 technology has led to a new generation of library services. In this I agree.
Library 2.0 as a whole can be overwhelming but if you can break it down into individual pieces and take the time to learn them.....it is our future.

Week Seven Thing 16 - Technorati
Technorati is a very busy site and even though user-friendly it was confusing to me. I am what my kids have described me.....Technology challenged. Oh well, I need a lot more time to figure out this one out but I certainly did find that it produced more hits than Google. I tried a few of the search options, boy, you need time to be able to view everything of interest. I don't think I like this one as much....too much information can scramble the wits and I need every wit I have left........
Week Seven Thing 15 - Delicious
After viewing the features of Delicious, I can see how this is an extremely user-friendly way to bookmark websites and use tags. As a cataloguer, sometimes LCSH hinders us in the way we can create headings for patron/staff use. This would not have the same effect as you can enter user-friendly terms (even slang) that patrons are more familiar with thereby making searches easier, faster and less time consuming. Staff may find that the time they take interpreting headings for patrons has been reduced and in turn the search time for items that staff have to help with will be reduced. Bonus......

Week 6 Thing 13 - LibraryThing
I really enjoyed LibraryThing and have posted a few books with more to add when I get time. This was easy to use. I entered books by title and by author.

Week 6 Thing 12
I have joined twitter. It was interesting to see who I could follow (includes TV guide, People, and a few actresses I have seem on TV over the last little while). I do not know if I will use this much but I can see that it would be interesting following the people you enjoy watching.

Week 5 Thing 11
After subscribing to Google Reader, I took a look at the Blogline Search tool. It looks simple to use and maybe I should have subscribed to that reader instead. Technorati and Syndic8.com looked very "busy" and intimidating; when I have more time maybe I'll look closer. I was very interested in the Internet Public Librarian's Library.....that one is a definite "second look" site.
Here's is to all the new stuff I'm learning..... I just have to remember it......

Week 5
I have set up Google Reader and have subscribed to two Blogs, two WPL bloggers and two library related sites. (with a little help from Anthony). Pulling all the information from the different sites to one reader is an excellent idea. I like the time it will save. I hope to go back and add a few more sites when I have the time. I did not know about this and so I found this interesting. I wonder if I now know something my kids don't .....(not likely.....)
